DCS proudly continues its cherished tradition of providing Christmas care packages to our brave military men and women deployed around the world. During this special season, we come together to support our troops through the Care Package Drive, sending a thoughtful assortment of snacks, toiletries, books, magazines, and other essential items. In this noble effort, DCS collaborates with the dedicated members of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), who generously contribute their time and energy to help make this initiative a resounding success.

James Ed Harris, a 78 year old Army veteran and lifelong resident of Grenada, Mississippi, was honored during a Veterans Day celebration recognizing both his military service and his role in the Civil Rights Movement. As a young man, he risked his life registering Black voters, was beaten and imprisoned, and later enlisted in the Army, where he earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his valor in Vietnam. Decades after returning home without proper recognition, community leaders and family members formally presented his medals and proclaimed November 11, 2023, as Mr. James Harris Day. The emotional ceremony celebrated not only his courage in combat, but his lifelong commitment to faith, family, and service to his community.
